What a Difference a Week Makes

We have some very thirsty sunflowers here! If you haven't planted yours, there is still time, but please stop down to the library soon. Do you know that sunflowers exhibit heliotropism? At sunrise, the faces of most sunflowers are turned towards the east. Over the course of the day, they follow the sun from east to west, while at night they return to an eastward orientation. 1. The French word for sunflower is tournesol or in Italian tornesole literally translated as, "that which turns toward the sun". Perfect for Carolyn's sunny disposition.
